Executive Board

The Executive Board, led by the SGA President, provides vision and oversight to SGA. The Vice Presidents act as the President’s chief advisers and work as a team to ensure the proper functioning of SGA’s various departments.

The President serves as a liaison between students and administration, facilitates the efficiency and proper functioning of every area in SGA, and is responsible for creating a shared vision and direction for the year within SGA

Sam Jackson

Senior Vice President

The Senior Vice President serves as the chief counsel to the SGA President, working with them to provide a shared vision and direction for SGA. The Senior Vice-President is also responsible for supervising the Senators and presiding over the Senate meetings.

Gisselle Trochez

Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Manages the Marketing and Communications department, overseeing internal and external communications, brand management and student research.

Ryan Colwell

Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion

The VP of Diversity and Inclusion provides counsel on diversity and multicultural related issues within the university. He coordinates focus groups, conducts surveys, and in-depth interviews to give voice to marginalized student groups on campus. He contributes towards diversity training and counsel for SGA staff members and seeks to be a representative of the Biblical principle of Shalom.

VP of Administrative Services is responsible for the efficient and smooth operation of the SGA/SPA/SMU office. They also assist in coordinating SGA, SPA, and SMU training, retreats, and celebrations, and provides administrative support directly to the SGA and SMU Presidents.

Brandon Berz

Vice President of Finance, Technology and HR

The Vice President of Finance, Technology and HR manages and allocates the student fee to remain in accordance with the mission statement of the Student Government Association of Biola University. Handles the overseeing of all hiring and firing within SGA. Executes the management of Payroll, Plant Assets and the Contingency accounts.

Marketing & Communications

The role of the marketing and communications department is to oversee all content and information distributed by SGA. This includes newsletters, videos, pictures, the SGA website and all social media activity.

Lauren Peterson

Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator manages all web and media content and information distributed by SGA. The goal of the Communications Coordinator is to manage the brand of SGA while boosting interaction with students to create awareness of Senate activity and SGA events.

Senate

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Senate represents the student body by sitting on university committees and voting on legislation and proposals brought forth by other SGA staff members or the student body. They also approve the SGA budget each semester.

Diversity & Inclusion

The Diversity Liaison reports to the Senior Vice President, providing counsel on diversity and multicultural related issues within the university.

Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator

The Diversity Liaison provides leadership and direction to SGA regarding issues of diversity (including race, gender, ethnicity, class, disability and international student needs) that are of interest or relevant to the student body. The Diversity Liaison is responsible for communicating these needs between the student body to SGA and between SGA and administration.

Office Staff

Reporting to the Vice President of Administrative Services, the Office Staff is made up of four Office Assistants. They provide support to the entire organization in various ways. The Office staff are the face of SGA, managing the day-to-day operations in the office. They also work to support SMU and SPA.
